Position
- John and Mary Weaver Professor
- Condensed Matter
Rob McQueeney is the John and Mary Weaver Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Iowa State University. He is a Senior Scientist at the Ames Laboratory where he directs the Center for the Advancement of Topological Semimetals (CATS) Energy Frontier Research Center and leads the “Magnetic Interactions and Excitations in Quantum Materials” project. Rob is an inaugural member of the Department of Energy’s Oppenheimer Leadership Program (2017) and a Fellow of the American Physical Society (2010). Rob earned his B.S. in physics and chemistry from the University of Connecticut in 1991 and received his Ph. D. in physics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. Rob’s expertise includes neutron scattering studies of magnetic quantum materials, such as magnetic topological materials, dilute magnets, and unconventional superconductors. Rob's Weaver professorship has allowed him to support undergraduate research and host events for graduate students and postdocs.
