Minors
Minor in physics
The department offers a minor in physics which may be earned by completing 20 credits in physics courses chosen as follows: Phys 2410 (or 2310), 2420 (or 2320), and 3210; at least one credit of laboratory chosen from 3210L, 3220L, 3100, 3110, and 3110T; other acceptable courses are 3040, 3060, 3220, 3610, 3620, 3640, 3650, 4210, 4320, 4610, 4800, 4810, and 4960.
Minor in astronomy
The department offers a minor in astronomy which may be earned by completing 15 credits chosen as follows: a total of 12-15 credits in Astro courses (must include Astro 3440L, and may include one of Astro 1200, Astro 1500, or Astro 2500); the remaining 3 credits (if applicable) can be chosen from among Physics 3040, 3210, 3610, 3620, 3640, 3650, 4800, 4810, 4960, or AER E 3510; 12 or more credits must be at the 300 level, and Astro 3440L can be used to satisfy requirements for both the physics major and astronomy minor. A typical sequence of courses for the minor is: Astro 1200 or 1500, Astro 3440L, Astro 3420, Astro 3460, and Astro 4050.
