Title: Confined and Deconfined Phases of Qubit Regularized Gauge Theories

Abstract: 

We construct quantum Monte Carlo methods for simple qubit regularized gauge theories in various dimensions that do not suffer from sign problems. Results from these calculations suggest that these theories contain both confined and deconfined phases. Finite temperature classical phase transitions between these phases show the expected universality classes of traditional gauge theories in various dimensions. Quantum phase transitions are more challenging. We outline our ongoing efforts to confront the challenges.
