Title: The long and the short of neutrinoless double beta decay
Abstract: Searches for rare processes at low energy provide unique opportunities to uncover physics beyond the Standard Model and address open questions about our universe. In this talk I will provide a theoretical perspective on nuclear neutrinoless double beta decay as a probe of lepton number non-conservation and its implications for the nature of massive neutrinos and the origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. I will also discuss the theoretical challenges and progress associated with the interpretation of experimental searches.
