Title: Investigating the theoretical low temperature cutoff for white dwarf pulsation
Abstract: ZZ Ceti stars are seen to exhibit small amplitude oscillations as they cool around a certain temperature range. However, the amplitude variations are abruptly cut off after a certain temperature even though they are not supposed to. We make an attempt to apply the concept of parametric instability to these low-frequency modes and see if they can explain why these modes are not seen and whether they can serve as a possible explanation for the recent photometric outbursts as seen by space surveys in the cooler ZZ Cetis.
