Title: ATLAS experiment and the trigger upgrade
Speaker: Dr. Boping Chen (Tel Aviv University)
Abstract: ATLAS is a general-purpose particle physics experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It is designed to search for evidence beyond the Standard Model, and also for precision measurement. Over the last 12 years, many excellent results, for example, the discovery of the Higgs boson, were reported by ATLAS. To improve the detector performance, LHC has been shut down for 3 years for the phase 1 upgrade. And there will be another three years shutdown in the future for the phase 2 upgrade. I will introduce the ATLAS experiment and take the tau trigger as an example to show the upgrade of the ATLAS hardware trigger system.
